Hope life is treating everyone well. It's that time of year again with Cod Season just about to open and Fred Hall doing the annual show in Long Beach. The New thing for 2010 is the long awaited and ever so popular El Nino Weather Pattern. The water has been pretty warm off so cal and the wet winter conditions are really lining up for a real interesting 2010 fishing season. A nice snap of Yellowtail down off Colonet and Seabass catching up off Santa Cruz (and I don't mean the island) is the Buzz at the Landings.

Miami Beach restaurants, shops

Made up of 17 islands in Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach is a separate city from Miami. In recent years “American Riviera” has received the carefree spirit of the early 1920s by renewing its South Beach area. Today South Beach revels in world glory as a lure for models and millionaires. The hub of South Beach is the 1 square mi Art Deco District which stretches along Ocean Drive and is the most talked about beachfront in America. About 800 significant buildings in the district are listed on the National Register of Historic Places – it is the nation’s first 20th century district to be honored as such.

Begin your tour of the Art Deco District at the Art Deco District Welcome Center. Proceed north past pastel hue Art Deco hotels (outlined in brilliant neon at night) on your left and the palm fringed beach on your right. You will also pass the magnificently restored Casa Casuarinas home of the late fashion designer Gianni Versace. The neighborhood’s two main commercial streets are Collins Avenue, on block west of Ocean Drive and one block farther west Washington Avenue. The latter is a colorful mix of Jewish, Cuban, Haitian and more familiar American cultures, containing delicatessens, avant-garde stores, produce markets, shops selling religious artifacts, and many of the city’s best restaurants and night clubs. Espanola Way off Washington is a quaint avenue with a youth hostel, clubs restaurants and ethnic shops a later afternoon flea market is held here each Sunday. Three blocks north is the Lincoln Road Mall, a lively pedestrian shopping street with upscale restaurants, eclectic shops and great people watching.

Bob....an email i sent to Mike this eve, that had some pics from a local trip off some of our favorite stones. The sand bass fishing this "winter" has been phenomenal. Here are pics of one that topped 5 and another over 7.

Now who said bass don't bite in the winter. The fish that Jay is displaying, is a Tree Fish i guess. I think that's what he called it. It was whopper.

Sea Adventure II skipper Terry Clayton was fishing for blackgill cod on a commercial trip last week when a spot of 15 pound albacore breezed down the side of his boat. Just as the school approached, one of the fish jumped clear out of the water. "I could see it's wings perfectly," said Clayton. This could be a sign of an accelerated season due to the warm El Nino waters. "This has to be a good sign for 2010," he said.

The Nava Tirupathis

The Vaishnavite saint poets, the Azhwars visit the shrines of Lord Vishnu and they described the beauty and power of these deities in their verses and they are called as Nalayiram Divyaprabhandam. First: Azhwarthirunagari which is on the Tirunelveli Tiruchendur road and you will reach half an hour for the journey from Tirunelveli town to the temple. The second temple is Varagunamangai at Tiruvaragunamangai. Next one is few minutes drive from Varagunamangai – Tiruppulingudi and in this temple Indira was relieved of a sin by worshipping here.

Irattai Tirupathi : If temples can be called pretty, the two temples in the town named Tirutholaivillimangalam fit the bill. They can also be approached from Azhwarthirunagari in a distance of 3 km. The next temple taking in the same road for about 10 km, we reach Thirukkulanthai. The next one is Thiupperai (Then Thirupperai). This temple is 5 km from Azhwarthirunagari. From Then Thirupperai, on the route to Azhwarthirunagari at a distance of about 2 ½ km, a small road to the right to lead to Thirukolur temple. The next temple is Srivaikuntam. Visiting and praying at the Nava Tirupathis is indeed a unique experience.

For visiting these temples, you can reach Tirunelveli and get a tourist taxi is the best way. Many hotels are available for accommodation.
