Hey Bob

School size yellows show at Catalina this weekend. Fortuna 7, Sparky, two times what made it to the boat. Excellent Bonita, barracuda. Calico bite as well. Pretty much a fish every bait if you could beat the dogs to the boat. The larger fish were getting slammed at deep color.

Nice Going Jeff
Island Yellow and 2 coolers full of fish sound like a great time on the Fortuna

Catalina Calicos

Green Light Gimmick

Catalina 2 Day Report
Appraisal Pacific Charter
MDR to CAT

It was some good fishing at the Island. The rather large Calicos were on the prowl and were eating the paint off the boat. Fishing the Flylined Sardines on the heavy string in tight to the island was awesome. It was fun tossing your bait on top of the Canopy and wait for the water to explode with a fat calico. We caught a bunch of nice bass.

It was a pleasure to meet Bob Gunderson. Bob is a Pacifica Family Member who built the beautiful 44 ft Pacifica we rode to Catalina. What a great guy. It was like meeting Enzo Ferrari.
A real comfort ride with all of the bells and whistles.

Thanks to CharterDude Bill Swift and boat owner Bob R for a nice trip

Great weather, Calicos chewing, and a hot plate of Day Old Spaghetti
What more could you ask for?

Qualifier 105 FishTrap Skiff Trip June 2007

To: bob.bobssportinggoods@gmail.com

Here are a few photos from our June 2007 skiff trip on the Q, sponsored
by FishTrap, hosted by Barry Brightenburg accompanied by a lot of
plastic.

The sunset is at Benitos.

Bob's Sporting Goods customer, TruLine and SoCal fishing memorabilia
collector Wayne Allen. As we are coming back to the big boat with an 8lb-4oz kelp kritter

The better half, (actually, more like 3/4+) Janet Ashikaga
With her (at that time) largest ever checkerboard, on the first
day in the kelp at Benitos

Next day with a new personal best of 8lb-1oz

Back in the fall of '06 Janet said that she "wanted to learn how to fish calicos".
Which elicited my immediate response "I know just the trip to do that".

The weather was great for the entire seven days. Lots of bass was to be expected. We also had great fishing for an excellent grade of yellowtail the whole time from the skiffs and the big boat. This was the same stuff that the American Angler and Excel were raving about.

All of the bass and yellows were caught on rods that were built for the trip by Bob's Sporting Goods' Mike Naoe, Calstar jig sticks and Lamiglas baitcaster style, heavy bass rods.

This trip was unusual in that we were able to fish the whole weather side of Cedros with the skiffs. Actually, it was the first time that I was able to fish it from anything. Most of the times that I have been around Cedros, you stayed on the lee side or got your lunch handed to
you.

Let me know if you would like more details.

That is a very nice report Yosh

Endeavor Yee Charter August 2007

Alberts at 60 Miles
Annual Yee Endeavor Charter

Overnight trip with the Annual Jeff Yee Charter on the Endeavor out of SeaForth. Early August for Albacore and Kelp Paddy Yellowtail. A great trip with a totally cool group of angler coming from all over CA. David Ikeda and crew put in the hard work for the group, and we took care of the rest. The entire fleet was there. Long and Short Range Boats speckled the horizon looking for the biter schools. It was the only game in town.

John Calder and JackPot winner Gary Bechtel - 44 lb Albacore

Girl Power

Not too much action on the trolling gimicks, where Sueno was looking for familiar faces in the machines. We stopped on a few schools for a plunker bite in the morning. David did say it was a late day bite the day before. The Endeavor would spin circles on schools, toss out a few baits, and slide in on the schools. Fishing the slide with a 1/8 ounce slider rig pinned to a Chovie made for some good action during the daytime bite.

It really started to go at 1:30 when David spotted a meatball of bait off to the west, with jumping Albacore covering a very large area. Good thing for us, the rest of the fleet was off to the east and we slide in for a couple of good shots on the school. They came to the corner and started to bite the Sardines on the heavy string. Now that was more like it. We ended the day at 3:30 and headed back up the line.

WLA Obon 2007 Kalbi Westside SportFishers

Hey Gang

Just wanted to share some pictures from the Obon. What a ripper event. We sold just about 900 lbs of Kalbi Beef Plates. It was a great success, and it could only have been done with the awesome help by the Bob's Family. Big Props to Mike and Jamie Naoe for gathering the troops, and the King of the Obon Scott Okamura for his tasty top secret marinade for the Kalbi.
