Spring Trips - I got an email from the honorable Lori Patella letting me know that there is room on some of their upcoming Spring trips. What a great way to blow off a little steam from this Donkey Economy and fish a Light Load on a Class A Number One Operation. Fishing always keeps me "In Balance" when I work in the Nutty World of Commercial Real Estate during the work week. Check out the email with the dates below:

VALLUVAR KOTTAM

In Memory of Poet and Saint Thiruvalluvar who wrote Thirukkurals about 2000 years before – Valluvar Kottam was constructed in 1976. This is the replica of the temple chariot at Thiruvarur. In the chariot 33m tall Thiruvalluvar statue has been installed. 1330 verses of Thirukkural are inscribed on bas-relief in the front hall corridors. 4000 people can sit in the auditorium. Dr.V.Ganapathi Sthapati is the architect for Valluvar Kottam.

It's that time of year again - Spring is just around the corner and I know all of you fisher-peeps are starting to get geeked up for the bite to really take off. The water temps are starting to warm up and the fish are just starting to move back into the usual grounds. Will someone just make the wind stop blowing so much!!!!!!

Anyways, enough about my rant about the wind. I wanted to post up a few pictures of fish that were all caught on a Salas Lure. Jig fishing is one on most favorite ways to fish. Calico Bass, Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo, just about anything in Baja on teh Yoyo or the Surface Plug.....and I have also heard that Seabass like to lick a Salas Lure (My inability to hook a seabass will be discussed in a future post). So I rolled in the shop last week and I ran into shop regular Steve Wallace. Steve was hanging out with his partner in crime and Scott Brickell - They were killing some time before they rolled across the street to get a bite to eat. Two good guys who both love to fish like the rest of us. Scott and I started to talk and he started telling me about a Tagging Trip he did in March on the Royal Star down at Revillagigedo.

03/05/09 After today's report expect a couple of day break as I head up to the show for the weekend. Otherwise, today's feature angler is another that I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming acquainted with throughout the voyage.


One of the many aspects I value about long range fishing is the opportunity I have to meet and interact with such a variety of diverse, interesting, successful individuals. Scott Brickell, in addition to being an accomplished angler, was a character I will not soon forget and sincerely hope I have the opportunity to fish with again. Always the optimist, and generous with his uniquely valuable perspective, Scott had me rolling with laughter as well as thinking deeply following our many conversations throughout the trip. When it came to fishing, Scott was eager and focused while maintaining the ever important joy of the occasion that sometimes escapes those more serious anglers. To each his own of course but I freely admit that it gives me great satisfaction to see anglers express the light hearted exuberance that attracted most of us to fishing to begin with.

That said, enjoy today's photos and look forward to many more. Also, my appreciation and gratitude goes out to Scott. I hope to fish with you again on Royal Star.

MARINA BEACH

Chennai- Most attractive Tourist Spot is “Marina Beach”. This is the second largest beach in a city. The beach is situated along a 12 km shoreline in Chennai and its width is 437 meters. This beach is famous for its food stalls. In the sea the waves are strong and the sea is rough. Near the beach Anna Samadhi and MGR Samadhi are situated you can have a look. When you stand in the seashore near water, the waves come and touch your feet is a memorable experience. If you have time to visit Chennai don’t forget to visit Marina Beach.

Hey Gang - We had another good trip on the Aloha Spirit with Jay Maeda. The weather reports during the week were not looking good at all. The wind has been blowing all week - actually, the wind has been blowing for DAYZ out at all of the Islands. and the Offshore regions It was been really tough for everyone who have been counting the days and know spring has arrived. I had my serious doubts about any good news about the wind.

Shawn had a great line where "You never know about the weather at this time of the season. You just have to show up where you never know when It might be Your Day."

We showed up to the landing at early dark thirty and was pleased to see No Wind. There was a little, but it was not bad at all. Rolling out the island there was a nice lump on the water, but once we split the Islands and got into the protection of Santa Cruz we were inside the wind bubble of flat calm seas - GREASE. Big Reds, with the usual variety of Rock fish started to hit the deck.

We had a good day of fishing. We would like to thank Shawn and the Crew of the Island Spirit for yet another great day on the water. These guys really love to fish while making everyone feel like they are at home. I highly recommend the boat to anyone who wants to fish the Northern Islands in Style. The Boat truly lives up to the name - Living Life in The True Aloha Spirit
